Welcome

Dear Newhouse Alumni,

The 2014-2015 academic year has been a milestone year as the Newhouse School has celebrated 50 years at Syracuse University.

The celebration began in September 2014 when Oprah Winfrey arrived on campus to open the Newhouse Studio and Innovation Center, featuring Dick Clark Studios, the Alan Gerry Center for Media Innovation and the Diane and Bob Miron Digital Newsroom.

The celebration will conclude this October with the “50 Forward” gala, an event that will help launch the school into the next 50 years.

At this event, we will again recognize our alumni for their incredible contributions, which have made Newhouse the leading communications school in the country. In addition, we will recognize 50 “forward thinkers”—entrepreneurs, leaders and innovators from all fields of communications—who will carry the Newhouse School’s reputation into the next half century.

We hope you can attend—and that you can help us spread the word about the event by telling your classmates and friends.

The goal of the celebration is not just a spectacular evening, but also to keep the pipeline of talent flowing. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Newhouse School’s Scholarship Fund, giving students who have unlimited potential, but limited financial means, a proven path into the communications industry.

This evening will be something special as we laud the “Newhouse Network”—the incredible, accomplished alumni who make the school so strong—and look forward to the next 50 years. We hope to see you there!

Best regards,
